Sydney FC Head Coach Ufuk Talay has heaped praise on two of his players who he believes have set the standard in recent games for the Sky Blues.
Talay says young Academy graduate Adrian Segecic is beginning to find his groove in the Isuzu-UTE A-League this season, with two goals on Saturday, and it’s down to the work he does behind the scenes.
“I thought Sega had a good game [against Western United],” he said. “He’s one player that definitely works hard at training and he puts his heart in soul to everything.
“We’ve played him where I think it’s his best position as a number 10, in-between the lines, and I thought he was quite effective.”
The Sky Blues boss also heralded Polish striker Patryk Klimala who had a goal disallowed on Saturday but had scored seven times in 11 game prior to that.
“He gives us a lot of pace off the line, especially in transition moments,” he continued.
“He had a few opportunities to score a few more but I think uh he’s done well.
“He doesn’t get a lot of moments because we play against teams that definitely sit off the ball so there’s not a lot of space for him behind.
“But in the moments that he has been involved, he’s definitely capitalized.”
Talay was also positive on the style of play despite Saturday’s loss.
“We want to be positive in the brand of football that we want to play,” he said.
“But we have to turn that brand also into results and that’s something that we’re lacking at the moment.
“We definitely need to improve on it.”
The Sky Blues next opportunity to do that comes this Friday night away to Adelaide United in Coopers Stadium in a 7.35pm kick off.
