One win is all that stands between Sydney FC Women and history when they take on Canberra United on Wednesday.
Three points against the Green and White will secure them a record breaking fourth consecutive Premiers Plate, a feat that has never been done before in the A-Leagues.
And ahead of possibly securing that title, Chauvet revealed that the secret to their success is their mentality.
“The mentality around the changeroom, around the gym, on the field is always positive.
“It’s about taking it one game at a time and we are not focusing too hard on that premiership or the titles and Ante [Juric] reminds us that we are focusing on the game at the end of the day,” she said.
The goal is to be as positive as possible and to take it one game at a time.
Chauvet was moved into the holding midfielder role due to the absence of a number of players due to the Young Matildas and in this role she has shone.
The 21-year-old hasn’t looked out of place and has been playing some of her best football in that number six position and she explained that it’s not her first rodeo in that position.
“I’ve played six before. I played there when I was in Iceland for a stint there and I actually really enjoy playing it.
“I got an opportunity to play this role at Sydney FC for the last few games and I feel really comfortable there,” Chauvet added.
Despite Canberra sitting in the lower reaches of the table, the Sky Blues are wary of the threat they can pose on Wednesday.
In fact, Sydney haven’t beaten Canberra at McKellar Park since 2020 and the last meeting there last season saw the hosts win 2-1 thanks to a late Ellie Brush goal.
This time around, with Canberra looking to avoid finishing last on the ladder, they will provide a stern test.
“A midweek game is never easy, especially with the stakes so high as well.
“It’s going to be a battle. A physical battle and a mental battle but I trust that we will be prepared,” she said.
“We’ve got a lot of experience in our team as well as youth so I think that that mix really helps us in these situations.”
Finally, Margaux was asked about what makes Sydney FC so different from the other clubs she has played at around the world and she wanted to highlight the impact that the fanbase have on the players.
“Playing for Sydney we are incredible lucky to have such a great fan base that are second to none in the A-League.
“To have everyone down at Leichhardt is amazing and something that I have never experienced before, even overseas.
“It’s really something special that we have created here and I can only hope that it can get stronger and better,” Margaux concluded.
