Kirsty Fenton has returned from injury and appears to be playing some of her best football ahead of Friday’s clash with Wellington Phoenix at Allianz Stadium.
The left back was involved in Sydney FC’s goal last weekend and she will be looking to carry that form into the Nix clash.
However, the 20 year old is wary of the threat that any team can pose in this league.
“We don’t take any team lightly in this competition so it is so important that we go in there with the mindset that we want to work hard and get those three points no matter how the opposition are doing this season.
“It’s important that we have a game plan and we work hard for each other and stick to our game plan,” Fenton said.
“Wellington are a good side so after those few days off, we really need to switch off holiday mode now and get ready for the game.”
Sydney FC Women will be at Allianz Stadium for this clash and this is a venue that they have enjoyed playing at, having only tasted defeat there on one occasion since the rebuild.
“It’s important that the Women get to experience the big stadiums like Allianz and the fans experiencing both games as well, being a double header.
“The crowds and atmosphere that we have been getting even playing at Leichhardt is amazing for us and really lifts everything for us.
“We’ve had a great run there and haven’t lost many games plus the field is amazing and the fans bring in so much energy for us and help us push in the last few moments,” she said.
“It’s going to be good at Allianz Stadium and before the boys, so hopefully the crowd comes along and watches us before the men play.”
Finally, Fenton appears to be running constantly up and down the left side and puts that down to her mentality which she instills in herself and that will be on full show on Friday.
“When it comes down to the final moments of the game everyone is gassed and I always have that little bit more in me that I know I have to push myself.
“It’s always so important to play through the whole 90 minutes, especially in the dying parts of the game,” she concluded.
Catch Kirsty flying down the left side this Friday when her side host Wellington Phoenix at Allianz Stadium.
