To our Sydney FC Members and supporters. We’d like to provide you with an update on both Sydney FC’s plan and the A-League’s plans for continued supporter consultation into the future, a project which the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) has been working on since early in the year.
On Monday the A-Leagues Club CEOs and APL Executive met in person to review the work that has been in development. The development process included benchmarking global best practice and consulting with local stakeholders to come up with the best model for Australasia. From this, each Club has agreed to formalise a Fan Representative Group per club for ongoing consultation.
Sydney FC already has two similar Member and fan liaison groups in operation. Sydney FC senior management meet monthly with leadership members of The Cove to discuss a variety of topics relating to active supporters and match day planning, while the club also meets with supporters who operate fan-based media channels every two months to provide updates and club information.
The club is committed to setting up a new third group – which will be the new Sydney FC Fan Representative Group. It will feature a cross-section of our A-League Men’s and Women’s Members and fanbase and will ensure that fan voices can be heard and considered in decision making on key matters. A chair will be elected from this group to represent Sydney FC in the newly formed A-League Fan Representative Group and minutes from these A-League group meetings will be shared between the Clubs and the League and published on official channels.
We are all committed to ensuring that fan voices are involved in the issues that affect them, and work begins now to formalise our group with representatives from across our fan base.
Sydney FC will be begin the process of requesting nominations for the group shortly.
