Joe Lolley insists Sydney FC are “right back in the mix” after completing back-to-back wins by beating the Central Coast Mariners 3-2 at Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Winger Lolley got on the scoresheet with Adam Le Fondre roaring back to form with a double in a thrilling come from behind victory for the Sky Blues.
“Two wins back to back, one against a team that’s been doing really well this year and that puts us right back up there in the mix,” said Englishman Joe Lolley.
“Our home form hasn’t been the best, you know, it’s a beautiful, beautiful stadium and a great place to play but that win is great.”
Previously, the goals were stagnant for the Sky Blues, but they have re-found their goalscoring form.
“We’re finally getting the goals,” said Lolley. “Alfie’s [Adam Le Fondre] coming into great form now and looking really sharp, and hopefully the goals keep coming.”
On the game as a whole, the Englishman was very surprised at how it all played out.
“I don’t think anyone expected it to go that way,” said Lolley.
“There were a lot of things to deal with for both sides, but I’m just happy we got three points in the end. A massive three points.”
Sydney FC and Joe Lolley will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they head west to take on rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in the second Sydney Derby of the season.
