Despite all the challenges 2020 has brought, Sydney FC’s McDonald’s Holiday Clinics continue to enjoy unparalleled growth, introducing and encouraging more young kids than ever to learn how to play the Sky Blue way in their School Holidays.
The club’s community football programs have hardly abated in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the clubs iconic Holiday Clinics, which have been held every year since 2010, have enjoyed their highest number of participants ever during this Spring period.
Just shy of 1,150 children have taken part in Sydney FC’s Holiday Clinics during the Term 3 break, spread across 15 locations around Sydney, including fantastic growth in the number of girls only programs, totaling nearly 300 participants at our four girls only clinics held in Rozelle, Manly, Connells Point and Bulli.
Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend is thrilled with the popularity of the club’s programs and anticipates more record participants in Term 4 through the club’s Skills Training Programs.
“Our community engagement across the A-League is second to none and we have done this through the continued support and partnership with our football association partners across Sydney,” he said.
“The Sydney FC Holiday Clinics have been a key pillar of our community work for a number of years and it’s pleasing to see so many participants this Spring despite all that has happened in 2020.
“To have over 1,100 children enjoying our sessions is a testament to the hard work our community department, six development officers and association partners continue to put in to fostering the game in this city.
“I’m looking forward to seeing even more children learn to play the Sky Blue way this Summer, and more girls joining our girls only clinics as the women’s game continues to grow in this country towards the 2023 Women’s World Cup.”
