In our ‘Where Are They Now’ series we’ll be taking a look back at some of our past players and hearing from them as they provide an update on what they’re up to these days.
This week, we heard from former Sydney FC striker Sasho Petrovski, as he hosted a special live Facebook chat on Friday night.
Petrovski joined the Sky Blues in 2005 for the inaugural season of the Hyundai A-League, where he’d form a reputation as one of the most prolific front men in the competition.
Over his two seasons in Sky Blue, Petrovski became a fan favourite, scoring 20 goals in 50 appearances while claiming a Hyundai A-League Championship and Oceania Club Championship in that time.
His form for Sydney FC saw the Bankstown born striker earn two caps for the Socceroos, scoring his only international goal in a 2007 AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Kuwait in August 2006.
After departing the Sky Blues for a move to Japan which ultimately fell through, Petrovski represented the Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets before moving to the South Coast Wolves in the NSW NPL, retiring in 2013.

“I’m just based in Wollongong and involved in some security work. I work for Spotless Securities and there’s some sites here that we manage. Plenty of work close to home which is a bonus.
“Once the age factor came into play, at 36, I had to decide to look at a different career and this opportunity was presented and it’s something I took.
“I was with the Central Coast Mariners at the time, and doing the drug testing after the match, a few of us were selected to stay back and provide a sample. The security guard escorted me back to the hotel [after providing a sample], we got to know each other and chatting, and he ended up being the owner of the company.
“That’s how it unfolded. I got his contact details, we kept in touch and that’s how it came about.”
