“Win By More” Says Corica

Sydney FC Head Coach Steve Corica wants the Premiership, and he wants to take it out by a massive margin as he targets another three points in Saturday night’s #BigBlue at Marvel Stadium (kick off 7:30pm AEDT).

Coming off the back of Wednesday night’s AFC Champions League draw, Corica said Saturday’s clash against the Victorians would be the perfect way to bounce back after victory was snatched away in the dying stages by a late equaliser to the Koreans.

“I love them [the Big Blues],” Corica said.

“I’ve said before, when I was a player this was the massive derby for us, the Melbourne Victory game.

“This is a big game, normally in front of a very good crowd and there’s just something special about the Big Blue.

“This one won’t change, we want to win and they want to win points too to make the top six. We want to win to stay top and win by further points.

“We’ve had a good recovery after Jeonbuk,” he continued.

“We were disappointed we didn’t get the win, but this is a great way to bounce back. A massive game against Melbourne and we’re looking forward to it.”

The Sky Blues’ Head Coach dismissed any notion if the club stuttering with a congestion of fixtures, as he provided an injury update on trio Michael Zullo, Chris Zuvela and Luke Ivanovic.

“For me it’s not a wobble, it’s different competition,” Corica said.

“You have to look at the opposition you’re playing against. Yokohama, one of the best teams in Asia as well, won the J-League last year and we speak very highly of Ange and the way they play, the result wasn’t great but next time we’ll put on a better performance.

“Jeonbuk one of the greats in Asian football and we’re disappointed we didn’t beat them. That’s a great sign for our club, we really wanted three points, I wouldn’t say a draw is a bad result.

“These aren’t concerns. Concerns are when you’re playing badly, we’re not playing badly, we’re creating chances, we’re doing all the right things and for me the players are fine and looking forward to this game.

Retre is back, Ninko is fresh as well. We rested a few players on Wednesday night, A little rotation here and there is good for the players,” he continued.

“Zullo is very close, he’ll start training today with us so we’ve got him back, Chris Zuvela back and Luke Ivanovic back in training today. They’re probably a week away from full training and games.”
