Sydney FC Head Coach Steve Corica said there’s not much he’d change from that Round 3 #SydneyDerby, apart from the score line, ahead of Friday night’s encounter at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
In what the Sky Blues’ boss labelled one the club’s best games performance wise, Corica said his side would have to be defensively wary of a reinvigorated Wanderers under new Head Coach Jean-Paul de Marigny.
“There was a lot of positives for us [from that Round 3 game], everything was positive except we didn’t get the result,” Corica said.
“They had the one chance and took it, full credit to them, but it’s been a long time since that game, and we’ve gone on a very good run since then and we want to keep that run going.
“He [J.P.] is doing a good job I think, three games, two wins and one draw is pretty good. It feels like they’re enjoying their football now and he’s encouraging a lot of attacking football as you can see from the weekend’s game, there was a lot of goals and excitement.
“Defensively we need to be nice and ready for it but also we want to concentrate on our game with the ball and dominate the game like we did in the first game against them.
“I think we had the majority of the possession, just change the result around,” he continued.
“That was probably one of our best games with the ball, we just didn’t score and get the win so we need to turn that around this time.”
Corica said there were no fresh injury concerns after the Sky Blues’ midweek trip to Yokohama, and their clash in Gosford at the weekend, as he said this clash has been marked on the calendar for some time now.
“It’s a massive one this weekend, this is one we’ve looked forward to for quite a while now,” Corica said.
“It’s always a big game and the first one at Kogarah at Jubilee, so we’re looking forward to playing at home against the Wanderers.
“I’m pretty sure by Friday night It’ll be a sold out, capacity crowd and it’ll be a good night.
“Everyone has pulled up really well,” he continued.
“They pulled up better than what I thought so the boys are ready to go. The boys are all ready that played from the weekend and there’s been no injuries so we’re all good.”
