Young Footballers Light Up the Field at Sydney FC’s First Primary Schools Cup

Last week, 21 school football teams participated in the inaugural Sydney FC Primary Schools Cup 2025. The Primary Schools Cup provided a day of competitive football that saw plenty of big moments, and school pride on display!

Hosted in Rockdale, across Ador Avenue Reserve & J Graham Field, schools travelled from all over Sydney to compete in the exclusive tournament, some coming as far as the Northern Beachers, and others traveling the short distance from the Sutherland Shire.

Congratulations to the below teams who won their Cup finals for their age category:

Stage 3 Girls: Loretto Kirribilli
Stage 3 Boys: St Patricks Strathfield
Stage 2 Boys: St Andrew’s Cathedral School

Mitchell McAsey, Sydney FC’s Coach Development & Tournaments Officer was happy with the outcome of the event.

“For the inaugural Sydney FC Primary Schools Cup, it was important that the tournament got the footballing elements right – this is something we can definitely say was achieved…

“As the tournament progresses into future years, and across various locations, developing the event side of the tournament to provide further enjoyment and activations for students and staff will be a priority”.

All players received free tickets to an A-League Men’s, or, A-League Women’s game, a free Happy Meal voucher, and the winners of the Cup finals received a trophy to take back to their school.

In 2026, Sydney FC aims to expand the tournament to various locations across Sydney, including the Northern Suburbs & Eastern Suburbs.

Keep an eye out for more details on these additional tournaments as EOIs go live!
