In our ‘Where Are They Now’ series we’ll be taking a look back at some of our past players and hearing from them as they provide an update on what they’re up to these days.

This week, we heard from former Sky Blue defender and fan favourite Pascal Bosschaart, as he hosted an exclusive Facebook Live chat on Tuesday night.

The Dutchman joined the Sky Blues in June 2011 and quickly established himself as a reputable defender with a solid tackle.

Bosschaart would play every game of the 2011/12 season before a cruel achilles tendon injury in the 2012 Elimination Final against the Wellington Phoenix saw him stretchered off a sidelined for a period of time.

The former Feyenoord man returned in November 2012 in a #BigBlue clash at Allianz Stadium, scoring his first senior goal with a wicked volley from outside the area, before injury and competition for places saw him miss a handful of games in the 2012/13 season.

After mutually terminating his contract with the Sky Blues in 2013, Bosschaart returned to his homeland and enjoyed spells at SV Heinenoord and IJsselmeervogels before moving into a coaching career.

Hear from Pascal Bosschaart:

“I still have contact with a few [Sydney FC] players,” he said.

“I spoke last month with Sebastian Ryall, and I have a lot of contact with Tezza [Terry McFlynn] on a regular basis. It’s great to still be in contact with the players.

“I’ve tried to get live streams when they’re not on the television. I try and watch a lot of games of Sydney FC.”
