“We’ll put our bodies on the line” – Rhyan Grant

Sydney FC full back Rhyan Grant says the Sky Blues squad will stretch every sinew in order to record a second consecutive win and clean sheet when Wellington Phoenix visit Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 5pm.

The Sky Blues greatest ever appearance maker has also played every minute of action this season and knows last Sunday’s first clean sheet was vital to their progression.

“That was a really important one for us last weekend,” he said.

“The way we rallied together and put our bodies on the line was brilliant and we’ll do it again this Saturday.

“It’s frustrating it took this long to get one but now we’re confident we can continue it,” Grant said.

“We have been working on more defensive structure this week and we want to be just as solid against Wellington.”

It is the only home game for the next month for the Sky Blues and they know that they cannot underestimate the Kiwis.

“With the table as congested as it is, we know that every team has quality within their ranks.

“You cannot underestimate any team, regardless if you are at home or away and this weekend will be no different,” he added.

“You can see the talent they have up front this season and there’s a reason they have scored so many goals.”

The Sky Blues have dominated the previous fixtures between the two however the full-back doesn’t read into history.

“I don’t think that looking at past form is a good indicator going into a match. On your day you need to perform against whoever is in front of you and our focus this weekend is the current Wellington team.”
