Match Report
Sydney FC has lost it’s first game in seven games despite a late comeback which saw their clash with Brisbane Roar end 4-3 to the visitors.
Brisbane took the lead on the quarter hour when an aimless long ball over the top fell to Halloran and the striker lofted it over the stranded Devenish-Meares.
The Queenslanders were two up five minutes later when O’Shea found Hore in the box and the youngster turned and fired home.
The Sky Blues pulled one back just after the half hour when Lolley’s cross to the back post was neatly controlled by Joel King and the full back stuck it home.
Roar restored the two goal advantage ten minutes later when Halloran got in behind the full back and crossed the ball to Zimarino to tap into the empty net.
It was 4-1 to Brisbane midway through the second half when Herrington volleyed home a right wing corner having lost his marker inside the box.
The Sky Blues pulled two goals back in the last ten minutes with a maiden goal for winger Tiago Quintal and a Jordan Courtney-Perkins they just came short despite the pressure.
What They Said: Ufuk Talay: “I think from the get-go, we were very lethargic and very slow.
“We didn’t start the game well and I think that continued on through the game, probably until the last 15, 20 minutes.
“When we were really chasing the game at 4-1 the boys at least they kept going, which is a positive, but I thought overall from start to finish, we weren’t at the races today.”
