We Will Continue To Be Aggressive – Talay

Ufuk Talay speaks to the press ahead of the Sydney Derby clash

Sydney FC Head Coach Ufuk Talay says going down to ten men in the last two games will not deter the Sky Blues from their aggressive style of play in this Saturday’s Sydney Derby.

Sydney FC need a win to help secure a home final but the Sky Blue coach was adamant that his side wouldn’t change up their controlling style of play.

“That’s how we want to play and dictate terms with or without the ball,” he said.

“We see ourselves as one of the big clubs in the country. We want to be aggressive; we want to be on the front foot and I always say if we’re going to fall, we’re going to fall forward.”

The last Sydney Derby at CommBank Stadium saw the Sky Blues thrash their cross-town rivals 4-1, after deploying their hallmark high press tactic.

Talay watched on as the Wanderers active support left the stadium early in the first half.

This time, he hopes that won’t be the case again.

“The players thrive on the atmosphere, the chanting, the singing, the celebration when goals are happening, so I think it’s the spectacle the fans bring.”

“The game is nothing without the fans, and we might as well have a training session without them.”

“For us, the RBB being there and our fans of the Cove will create a different social environment.”

The Head Coach will also come up against his former Sydney FC teammate in Mark Rudan.

When talking about whether he would have a pre-game chat with his rival coach, Mark Rudan, he explained:

“We definitely won’t be having a chat before the game.

“Marko has been a friend of mine for 30 years.

“While playing in Sydney together, we were roommates, so I know him quite well.”

Just one point separates Sydney FC and Wanderers on the Isuzu-UTE A-League ladder with three games to go so the points are crucial in the race for Finals.
