We need to show more – Segecic

Hear from Adrian Segecic prior to the second leg against Bangkok United

Adrian Segecic came off the bench last week against Bangkok United and scored a brace in a 2-2 first leg draw.

This Wednesday night, he will be looking to do something similar and stresses the importance of this 90 minutes to the squad.

“The boys have travelled pretty well and overall it was a decent flight so the boys are recovering now and getting ready to train today.

Segecic nets in the first leg

“Bangkok are here to win, you could see that from the first leg,” Segecic said.

“They were throwing their bodies at everything, giving everything they had so they clearly are going to give everything to win this so we need to do the same.”

Here in Thailand the mercury is sitting in the mid to low 30’s and the humidity is high, meaning the Sky Blues will need to work hard if they want to get anything from the match.

A strong away contingent followed the Thai side last week and Segecic is ready for the noise they will make in the Thammasat Stadium on Wednesday night.

“We are expecting it [a hostile welcome] as we’re here in Thailand in their home ground but I think it will be a good atmosphere,” he said.

“The way we train, we are pretty fit despite the humidity but I think the boys are going to be ready and we are fit enough to deal with it.

“We think they are going to try and sit back and get us on the counter attack with our quality. They could potentially come out early and press us in the first 5,10 minutes but I think mostly they will sit back.”

Bangkok United converted their penalty in the second half

The belief has remained the same within the squad, that they can get something from this game and the rest of the season.

“The boss spoke to us and said that we need to show a bit more, a bit more heart and determination in defence and attack.

“We could have killed the game off in that first half so I think we have to look to convert more in this game.

“There is a massive belief within the squad and we all believe that we can achieve big things this year,” he concluded.
