Sydney FC midfielder Jason Culina has admitted watching the first Sydney Derby only spurred him on to play in this Saturday’s clash.

The Socceroos international was in the crowd for the Sky Blues historic first win in the fixture and admits it made him more eager to return to fitness.

“I didn-t play in the first one but just sitting in the stands I wanted to get out onto the pitch,” said Culina.

“That-s what derby games do to you and I-m really looking forward to it [this Saturday], we-re expecting a tough typical derby and hopefully it-s another positive result for us.”

Despite the 1-0 win at Parramatta Stadium in October, Culina is under no illusions about facing the Wanderers in the first derby at Allianz Stadium this weekend.

“They-re a good team, they-ve shown that. They-re a solid team and they are not going to be easy to play against.

“We-ve just got to go out there and we-ve got to enjoy the occasion. There-s hopefully going to be a big crowd and we-re coming off a good result as they are.”

Tickets for Saturday night’s epic derby clash with Western Sydney Wanderers are still available from Ticketek starting from only $25 for adults. Kick off is 7:45pm with the W-League top of the table clash between Sydney FC and Perth Glory starting at 5pm.
