Former Sydney FC stars Caitlin Foord, Sam Kerr and Alanna Kennedy will line up against their former Sky Blues teammates on Sunday when the newly crowned Westfield W-League Premiers, Perth Glory, come to Wollongong (kick off 3pm).

The match promises to be a spicy encounter, with all three players having previously won the 2012/13 Westfield W-League Championship with the Sky Blues.

The game will also mark a special occasion for Foord who grew up in the Illawarra and is relishing the opportunity of playing in front of her home crowd.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” she said.

“It’s rare for me to get back home, so my family and friends are all excited to catch up and see me play.”

Foord has been one of the standout players in the Glory’s 2014 season, helping her new club secure their first Premiership with two rounds remaining in the competition.

“It was great to make history with Perth and we celebrated winning the trophy but the job is only half done and we can’t take our foot off the pedal now,” Foord said.

“The win over Sydney FC was the closest game we’ve played this year and we’re expecting things to be just as tough on Sunday.”

For Sydney FC, a win will give the Sky Blues a chance of finishing second above Melbourne Victory.

Chloe Logarzo was also a member of that 2012/13 Championship winning squad, and she says the team have been training hard to get one up on their old teammates.

“We know the players, so we know how we can exploit their weaknesses and hopefully break them down in attack,” she said.

“We’re not looking at the table at all, we really just want to beat Perth to get one up on the girls who left the club and we’d love to be the team to finally end their unbeaten run.”

Sydney FC take on Perth Glory at Wollongong’s WIN Stadium this Sunday at 3 pm. Head down the coast to cheer the girls on with only two rounds remaining and a coveted home semi-final place up for grabs.
