Venues Confirmed Ahead Of ALW Premiership deciders

Two of Sydney FC’s crucial Liberty A-League Women’s away matches have had venues confirmed as the Sky Blues chase an unprecedented fourth Premiers Plate.

Sunday’s big clash with second placed Melbourne City will now take place at AAMI Park at 4.05pm, having originally been scheduled for Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.

Ante Juric’s squad sit five points ahead of City with three games to play however City have four remaining.

The match is building as a potential Premiership decider and the players think the switch of stadiums will help.

“It’s a huge game on Sunday and playing at AAMI Park is great because it’s a really good surface for us to to play our game,” said midfielder Mackenzie Hawkesby.

“It’s probably our biggest game yet and it’s going to be really exciting.

“I think we played really well in Melbourne on Wednesday night [against Victory 2-2 draw] and created lots of chances.

“We’ve been excellent in the last couple of games with the ball, and we can’t really do much more, we just need to put away our chances.

“We need to get three points and that will give us the momentum to go on and secure a second consecutive Premiers Plate, but it’s far from done yet.”

All things going well, next week’s game away to Perth Glory could be the day the trophy is lifted, but that has now been scheduled for UTAS Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania on Sunday 27th February.

It’s also a 4.05pm kick off.

Both games will be broadcast on Channel TEN and Paramount Plus.
