Tobin happy with flawless start

Sydney FC Captain Nat Tobin is proud of her side’s start to the season as they remain unbeaten after five games.

Sydney FC sit on top of the ladder with four wins and one draw out of five matches. What’s impressive about the feat is that the team has only conceded one goal which came in the 3-1 win over the Newcastle Jets in Round One.

Tobin left the field early in Sydney FC’s 5-0 win against the Phoenix after she suffered an injury to her foot. Tobin is optimistic that she will be fit to play on the weekend is confident she won’t be out for a long time.

“I’ve been in a moon boot but ill come out of it today and we’ll see how it goes.”

As for her side’s strong start to the season, Tobin is excited for what’s to come from her team.

“It’s been a great start. As a defender it’s a big confidence booster to only concede one goal, I’m proud as a captain. Charlotte Mclean and I have been working well together in the backline.”

“Charlotte and I are great friends off the field and I think our strong friendship helps translate to on-field success. As a team, we all work together but I think we’ve found some consistency in the back.”

After suffering a slight setback in Sydney FC’s 0-0 draw with the Wanderers, Tobin was stoked with her side’s response against the Phoenix.

“I was happy that we were able to bounce back from the disappointing draw against the Wanderers and record a big win against the Phoenix.”

“I was happy for Mackenzie to score a hat-trick in front of her family who was in the crowd, I think she’s really come into her own this season and has cemented herself as a starting player in our side.”

Sydney FC faces Perth Glory this weekend who is a side that Tobin almost joined earlier this year. Tobin says that she came close to joining the Glory but is happy to have stayed with Sydney FC.

“Yeah I came close, at the time the opportunity came and it suited my current work situation but obviously with the strong borders, the Covid situation knocked it all on the head. It came close to happening but I’m happy at Sydney FC.”

Sydney FC aims to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they face Perth Glory this weekend.
