‘There’s Nowhere To Hide’ – Kisnorbo

Sydney FC’s new Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo has made it clear there will be nowhere to hide under his regime, aiming to define his era by hard-work and determination.

Kisnorbo, who led Melbourne City to their inaugural A-League Championship in his first season in charge, is known for instilling a strong level of determination and tenacity in his sides.

However, he stopped short of saying he’ll bring a ‘boot-camp’ approach to get the best out of his players.

“They are not wearing army uniforms, if that’s what you’re sort of implying,” he told journalists.

“[I’m] just trying to be positive and show the players qualities.

“Maybe my fitness is harder than a lot of other people’s, but there’s expectations; if you want to be successful, there’s no way you can hide and be lazy.

“If you’re at an elite level, you need to work elite and consistently, not just for one day.

“They’ve [the players] done that. They’ve shown they can do that, and we want to try and bring that into the game.”

Kisnorbo also revealed he had offers to join other clubs before taking the Sydney FC role.

“I did knock back a few jobs, a few opportunities,” he said. “[I was] Trying to pick the right one that you think you could benefit and make the club benefit.

“It was a perfect way in, to come to a club where ambition is high, but also to try and do something that the club hasn’t done before at this stage [of the season].

“It’s a perfect opportunity.”

The Head Coach believes his personality can help bring the best out of his players in the remaining four games.

“I need to prove is that I’m a good person within the club,” he said.

“The human factor and being a good guy around the training ground, meeting new staff, new players, new members, new people — for me, that’s the most important.

“It’s how I portray myself as a person, being positive with the players and showing them that they can adapt to someone new to let the shackles off and go and express themselves.”

The Sky Blues will get the chance to express themselves under Kisnorbo for the first time when they visit Brisbane Roar on Thursday this week.
