Sydney FC has completed the re-signing of Socceroos World Cup hero Joel King on loan until the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2022-23 season.
The former A-League Young Player Of The Year joins from Odense BK after 12 months with the Danish club and will give the Sky Blues extra defensive strength in the second half of the season.
Left back King was an A-League double winner with Sydney FC under Head Coach Steve Corica in 2019-20 and was also a member of the squad who won the 2019 A-League Championship.
“I’m excited to get back to Sydney FC and to play at the new Allianz Stadium which I’m yet to experience,” said the 22 year old.
“It will be easy to slot back into the great culture at the club and I’m looking forward to fighting for my place in the starting line-up.
“It’s an extremely tight league this year and will be a very exciting second half to the season.
“Everything is still to play for and I’d love to win another Premiership and a third Championship medal.”
King was handed his professional debut by Corica as an 18-year old in 2019 and went onto represent Australia in Graham Arnold’s heroic Qatar World Cup squad in December.
“Joel was part of the most successful Socceroos World Cup squad in history and has had more experience since he went overseas, so it’s an excellent signing for us,” said Corica.
“He is a great addition and will provide more defensive cover at the business end of our season. I’m very happy to be bringing him home.”
The full back will wear the number 3 jersey.
