Team-mates bringing out the best of Thompson

Jordan Thompson has been improving each and every game that she has had in Australia and she puts this down to her team-mates more than anything.

Each and every one of them strives to improve one another and push themselves to bring out the best in each other which they will aim to do on Sunday when Newcastle Jets visit Leichhardt Oval.

“The girls do a really good job of bringing out the best in everybody.

“They push me every single day so it is great to be surrounded by a lot of really good players,” Thompson said.

“I am really proud of this team and really grateful that we fight for each other every game.”

Despite a heartbreaking loss against the Mariners on Wednesday night, the American defender is ready to pick herself up and go again on Sunday night.

“We have a quick turnaround so there is no time to mull over the loss, but losses are part of the game and now we need to think about Newcastle Jets.

“Everybody in this league is really good and no one is guaranteed a win,” the 25 year old said.

“They have some really good players and know how to play their system so we have a lot to prepare for this weekend.”

Having now caught up with the rest of the pack in terms of matches played, the Sky Blues currently sit third on 19 points and Thompson knows it is all still to play for.

Cortnee Vine scored the lone goal the last time out against the Jets

“We have so many games to play for and we don’t want to peak yet, we want to peak at the end when you have finals and premierships.

“How we are playing now, knowing that we have so many games left to keep improving is a good sign so there is so much to play for and so much to be proud of this team for,” she concluded.
