Football-s popularity continues to grow wherever a ball can be kicked in Australia and Sydney FC is helping to develop a new frontier for the game with the club recently combining with Rockdale City Council and Ray White Brighton to host a day of Kids Beach Football at Brighton Le Sands, South of the City.
In near perfect conditions down on the sand more than 120 kids and their families turned out for the event which comprised a series of non-competitive matches for both boys and girls from the local area and beyond. Some of the stars of Sydney FC were on hand to oversee the day-s activities and sign autographs, and at midday a celebrity match was staged to entertain the assembled onlookers.
Given the success of the inaugural tournament organisers are already looking forward to 2010 with the hope it will continue to grow and become an annual event.
