Sydney star set to pass century

Sydney FC-s 100 club will induct its 3rd member this weekend, with evergreen midfielder, Steve Corica set to rack up a century of starts in Sky Blue when he lines up against the Perth Glory in round 8 of the Hyundai A-League.

Following in the footsteps of Iain Fyfe and Clint Bolton, Corica will make his 100th official appearance for Sydney when he hits the field at Members Equity Stadium this Sunday.

“It-s nice,” reflected the 35-year-old. “This is the 4th season now in the A-League and 100 games is a good milestone so obviously looking forward to a good game this weekend and three points, that-s most important.”

It-s shaping up as a season of milestones for the one-time Socceroo, who passed 400 career games at a National club level last month, and hopes to add a few more fond memories before the end of the current competition.

“We want to make it to the grand final, that-s probably more important than playing 100 games for your club so that-s my main milestone this year, to make it to another grand final and then obviously we want to win it,” he said.

While he-s classed as one of the veterans of the Hyundai A-League, the in-form attacker has no plans to call it quits any time soon.

“I wouldn-t say many more but I-d say I-ve still got a few games before I hang my boots up,” said Corica. “ I-ve got another year left on my contract and we-ll see from there.”

Corica and his FC team-mates will travel to Western Australia tomorrow ahead of the round 8 contest with the Glory, which kicks off in Perth at 5pm (Sydney time) on Sunday.
