Sydney FC-s rejuvenation will take a giant leap forward with a win over Melbourne Heart at the Sydney Football Stadium on Thursday night.

Three points would leave the Sky Blues sitting in second position on the ladder, with Brisbane requiring a win over Melbourne Victory on New Year-s Eve to knock the club out of the top two at the start of 2012.

It-s a remarkable turnaround after a less than successful first half of the year.

Centre half Michael Beauchamp puts the revival down to the excellence and family values within the club.

“It-s fantastic when you step over the white line that there-s a lot of competition,” he said.

“It keeps everyone on their toes and that-s the way it ought to be.

“There are still a lot of friendships in the team and that-s what keeps the team together and builds character in the team.”

Sydney are yet to drop a point from games they-ve gone ahead in this season, and despite developing a reputation for thrilling comebacks, the Socceroo is hoping to take the early advantage.

“We-ve shown before with teams, especially with Brisbane where we scored early, we can really dominate the game, and I feel if we get the early goal we go on and win those games.”

Watch Sydney FC take on Melbourne and send them home broken hearted. Kick off is Thursday at 7.30pm at the SFS. Gates open 6.30pm. Adults from only $20. Tickets are still available from Ticketek.
