Sydney FC are looking to go joint second in the A-league on Sunday night with a win over Gold Coast United.

Victory would put them level on points with the Central Coast Mariners, if the Mariners lose the F3 derby against the Newcastle Jets.

However coach Vitezslav Lavicka isn-t setting his sights too far ahead and says he-s wary of a “dangerous” opposition.

“I remember the last game against them in Sydney a few weeks ago, it was a very tough game for us.

“We were two goals down and then we started to chase the game and we won, but we know that they have dangerous, dangerous players and are a dangerous side.”

Sydney go into the game sitting 3rd in the table on 14 points while the Gold Coast are bottom of the ladder on 5.

“Of course they are struggling a bit with the points, sitting down on the ladder but we always respect the opponents,” said Lavicka.

“We try and focus on our performance to keep the boys mentally and physically ready to put in a good performance again and get a good result, it-s important for us.”

Lavicka also gave an update on the fitness of Terry Antonis and Mark Bridge – watch our video to find out more.
