As Sydney FC-s March Member Month continues, we look at one of the more memorable Sky Blues Membership experiences.
Once a season for each interstate capital that the Sky Blues visit, Sydney FC Members get the chance to meet their heroes at an exclusive Member-s Meet and Greet.
Interstate Members, plus any NSW Members that travel, may come along and meet with the travelling squad on the evening before the game.
This is a rare opportunity to meet in an exclusive environment with the entire squad and coaching staff, discuss the season so far, look forward to the upcoming match and speculate on its result.
The players pose for photos, sign autographs, and get a better understanding of the passion of the Members that take the time to support the team so far from home.
Over 130 Members registered their interest for the event in Melbourne and Grace Burgess was one of the lucky Members who attended.
In Melbourne for family reasons Grace, from northern NSW near Byron Bay, couldn-t talk highly enough of the players and staff she met and hinted she might have played a part in in the Sky Blues scoring five against a Melbourne Victory.
“I happened to be in Melbourne, visiting my dad,” Grace said.
“So I didn-t actually get to go to the Big Blue but I just whipped off to the meet and greet instead of going to the game.
“It was interesting because there was quite a few fans in my session, the 2nd session, but I had a chat to quite a few of the boys.
“Everybody I talked to that night scored a goal the next day so I was obviously the lucky charm,” she joked.
“I had a really nice chat with the guys and some photos and when Del Piero came out he was very kind. My experience was really lovely.”
Grace revealed she became a Member as a result of her dealings with the club and through her son-s participation in the adidas School Holiday Clinics.
“I became a Member for a couple of reasons,” said Grace.
“I took my son to one of the camps last year and then later on I met some people in the club through my normal work
“The club was very kind to me and the camp was enjoyed by my son so I became a Member. The kindness that the club has extended to me has really given me a really good impression; it-s not so much what the boys are or are not doing on the field. For me that-s what the club means to me.”
