Sydney FC’s remaining Hyundai A-League fixtures have been adjusted to accommodate the quarantine period required for the Melbourne clubs following their arrival in Sydney.
The Sky Blues’ clash against Western United, originally at Bankwest Stadium and slated for July 25, has now been moved to Saturday 15th August at the same venue, while ANZ Stadium has also been confirmed as the venue for the club’s encounters against Melbourne City, Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar.
Head Coach Steve Corica welcomed the changes and said all focus was now on Friday night’s encounter against the Wellington Phoenix at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, the curtain raiser for the resumption of the 2019/20 season.
“All eyes will be on us on Friday night, and it’s a great opportunity to showcase our Premiership credentials,” he said.
“It’s good to have the Melbourne clubs in Sydney now and the changes allow for a fair game, giving both sides time to prepare adequately,” he continued.
“We’ve enjoyed plenty of great spectacles at ANZ Stadium in the past, and I’m sure our games against City and Brisbane will be no different as we look to build some momentum heading into the Finals Series.
“It’s great to have our Members allowed back in attendance and I’m looking forward to seeing plenty of Sky Blue at our remaining fixtures this season.”
The changes also see the Finals Series moved back a week, with the Semi-Finals scheduled for Wednesday 26th August, while the Hyundai A-League 2020 Grand Final will be played on Saturday 29th August.
Sydney FC return to Hyundai A-League this Friday night at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium against the Wellington Phoenix (kick off 7:30pm), with a win moving the Sky Blues to within one point of a record-breaking fourth Premiership.
