Sydney FC’s Round 3 and 4 home fixtures against Central Coast Mariners and Canberra United have been postponed due to the club’s participation in the AFC Women’s Club Championship between November 6th and 12th in Uzbekistan.
The clash against the Central Coast Mariners has been re-arranged to take place during the summer school holidays and is set for Wednesday 17th January at Leichhardt Oval at 7pm.
The Canberra United re-arranged fixture is still to be confirmed.
Head Coach Ante Juric expected the changes and is excited by the extra fixtures.
“The girls love playing games and another game during the school holidays should ensure we get a big crowd at Leichhardt Oval,” he said.
“We are looking forward to getting more big home crowds, and at Leichhardt Oval. The crowd support has been immense thus far and long may it continue into the season.
“Participation in Asian competition is a great honour and we will be giving it our best to win the competition.”
The Sky Blues will need to travel to Uzbekistan to start their campaign on November 6th against Bam Khatoon FC from Iran in a 9pm kick off (AEDT)(3pm local).
It means the squad must leave on November 2nd to arrive in Tashkent in time for the game and to acclimatize after a minimum 27 hour flight and travel time.
Sydney FC’s Women’s squad will also play FC Nasaf from Uzbekistan and Korea’s Hyundai Steel Red Angels FC over six days of fixtures and will arrive back in Sydney on 14th November.
In addition, Sydney FC Women’s match with Perth Glory on Saturday 3rd of February has an updated kick off time of 7pm.
