Sydney FC’s Sydney Super Cup clash with Scottish giants Celtic has been confirmed to take place on Thursday 17th November later this year.
The Sky Blues will take on Ange Postcoglou’s men at their new home ground at the Sydney Football Stadium with venue also being confirmed this morning at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal.
Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport, and Minister for Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, announced the details with Sydney FC Members set for an exclusive pre-sale access on Thursday (details to be sent via email).
Sydney FC midfielder Luke Brattan was on hand alongside ex-Celtic star Scott MacDonald to help announced the details.
“It’s huge, it’s great for Sydney FC to play at the new stadium against a quality opposition and it should be a great atmosphere and event for the Members,” said Brattan.
“New South Wales and Australia have been through a lot over the past couple of years so it will be great to get the fans back out and in stadiums and to see the Scottish here as well.
“Hopefully it’s a good turnout.”
Western Sydney Wanderers defender Rhys Williams was also in attendance along with Rangers legend Dave Mitchell, with the two clubs set to play at CommBank Stadium, the evening before the Sky Blues clash.
Celtic will face Rangers in their historic first overseas clash the following Sunday 20th November, 2022 as the final game in the three match tournament.
Sydney FC Members will have Thursday’s window starting at 1pm to purchase tickets with sale to the general public happening on Friday from 1pm.
