Sydney FC-s A-League, Youth League and W-League sides will unite on Sunday at Allianz Stadium to celebrate the Sky Blues- 200th Hyundai A-League match.
Sydney FC takes on Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, eight years after the Sky Blues started it-s Hyundai A-League journey against Melbourne Victory at Allianz Stadium.
The Sydney FC youth team will play a curtain raiser against Brisbane Roar before the A-League clash while the W-League side will be recognised for their grand final triumph last week during a half time presentation.
“The 200th A-League game is a significant milestone for Sydney FC and it is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the day with the entire club,” said Sydney FC CEO. “The A-League has evolved over the last eight years and we are embracing our youth team and the W-League and we will celebrate together on Sunday.”
Sydney FC assistant coach Steve Corica and Captain Terry McFlynn were part of the Sky Blues line up that day as Dwight Yorke and Archie Thompson both scored on debut in a 1-1 draw.
Another Sydney FC player who was at Allianz Stadium that night is defender Sebastian Ryall, who as a 16-year-old junior representative player, had dreams of wearing the Sky Blue shirt of Sydney FC.
“I was 16 at the time and I think it was special for a Sydney boy like myself because Sydney FC was a new club and I remember at the time having a player like Dwight Yorke being here in town was something amazing,” Ryall said.
“For me that will always be a special night because now I play for Sydney FC and it’s such a good club and I’m part of it now so it was really good to be part of that match.
“I always hoped I would (play for Sydney FC) and I had aspirations to be a professional footballer and now it’s really satisfying to be able to watch that game and be here playing alongside the likes of Alessandro Del Piero.
