“Tika Taka” took out the tournament and will now represent Sydney FC in the Australian Final of the Tiger Street Soccer Tournament at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay on Saturday, June 30.
Angelo Petratos (father of Sydney FC Young Gun Dimitri) is joined by former Nth Queensland and Central Coast midfielder Panni NIkas (currently playing for Sutherland), Damir Prodanovic (Manly United), Daniel Wilkinson (Sydney United), Kris Atkinson (Inter Lions) and Angelo Rodic (APIA U13s coach).
“I think it-s a fantastic initiative that Sydney FC is doing to get a team organised for this Tiger Street tournament,” said Terry Palapanis from Golden Goal. “The quality of the teams has been good and a lot of the guys can-t wait to represent Sydney FC next week. I think some of them think they could actually play for Sydney FC!”
Sydney FC midfielder Dimi Petratos was also on hand to watch the teams last weekend: “As a youngster I was a fan of Sydney FC, I-ve had the opportunity to play for the club and to represent Sydney, just as the boys will be doing next weekend. It-s a great feeling, I love pulling on the shirt and going out there and playing for my team.
“I-m sure they (Tika-taka) will wear their shirt with pride and hopefully they can do the club proud and win it. My father-s in the team and they-ve done well. He-s scored a couple of goals – he-s trying hard, ha ha!”
Tika Taka swept all before them last Sunday, defeating Benfica FC 3-2 in the final to progress to the Australian Final.
The winning team from the Australian final will be flown to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September to take part in the Malaysian Finals for a chance to win part of USD $8,000 in prize money. All expenses including flights, hotels and meals are covered by ESPN Star Sports.
Sydney FC-s Membership Program will be launched very soon. Keep an eye out for details across our social media platforms facebook and twitter.
