Sydney FC today signed talented 21-year-old Scott Jamieson to a two year contract.
Hyundai A-League 2010 Champions Sydney FC today signed 21-year-old Scott Jamieson to a two year contract – the club-s second signing since claiming the domestic double in March.
The 2008/09 A-League Rising Star returns home to Sydney after a three year stint at English Premier League (EPL) side Bolton Wanderers and two seasons with Adelaide United, where he played 49 A-League games.
The talented young defender, who earned his first Socceroos cap in early 2009, will begin training with the Sky Blues on Tuesday 1 June and will make his debut appearance during Sydney FC-s soon to be announced preseason schedule.
“I am really happy to be joining Sydney FC. It is an amazing time to join the club. They are the current A-League champions and will be in the next Asian Champions League. I can-t wait to begin training and get into it.
“Obviously a massive factor was having the chance to play under Vitezslav and the clubs coaching staff. My family are from Sydney too and I was born in Kings Langley and played all of my junior football in the area so it is a good feeling knowing I will see my family a lot more.
“Every team aims up when they play Sydney FC so I am looking forward to the challenge. You hear about Sydney FC and the culture Vitezslav and the staff here have established and you want to be a part of that.”
Jamieson joins goalkeeper Liam Reddy as the club-s latest recruits with the Sky Blues set to announce further signings in the coming weeks.
“Scott is a very talented player. He is still very young. He will become an important part of our team and we welcome him to the Sydney FC family,” Sky Blues Coach Vitezslav Lavicka said.
“He has already experienced time with an English Premier League team and had success in the A-League both personally and with Adelaide. This is great experience for a player who is still only 21.”
Sydney FC Vice Chairman Scott Barlow said the addition of a player of the ilk of Jamieson was a clear illustration of the club-s approach to its current recruitment process.
“Scott has compiled a very impressive CV and will bring additional speed and flair to our team and that fits perfectly with the entertaining style of play you will see from Sydney FC this season,” Barlow said.
Jamieson will wear number 21 for Sydney FC this season.
