Milly Cassar Signs For Sydney FC

Sydney FC have continued to strengthen their midfield ranks ahead of the Ninja A-League 2025-26  season with the signing of highly-rated Young Matildas talent Amelia Cassar on a three year contract from Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 17-year-old central midfielder is one of Australia’s brightest prospects, having impressed with her composure, work rate and technical ability across junior national teams, and now makes the cross-town switch to Sky Blue.

Cassar, who featured for the Young Matildas in recent training camp alongside a number of other Sky Blues, is excited to continue her development under Ante Juric at a club renowned for producing elite Australian talent.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Sydney FC,” Cassar said.

“This club has a fantastic history of developing young players and giving them the chance to succeed – and that’s exactly what I’m here to do.

“I’m focused on working hard, learning as much as I can from Ante and the team, and doing everything I can to help us have a successful season.”

Milly Cassar joins from cross-city rivals Western Sydney Wanderers.

Sydney FC Head Coach Ante Juric said Cassar’s all-round qualities made her an ideal addition to the squad.

“Amelia has been on our radar here at Sydney FC for a few years now, she is a very exciting young attacking player with enormous ability,” he said.

“She’s technically excellent, very intelligent on the ball, and has great speed – all attributes we value highly at Sydney FC.

“Most importantly, she is a fantastic person who will add to our great culture.  She also has a fantastic attitude and hunger to improve, and I’m confident she’ll thrive in our environment.”

Cassar’s signing continues Sydney FC’s strong focus on emerging talent and adds further depth to a midfield that combines youth, experience and creativity.

She will join her new teammates when pre-season begins in September.
