Sydney FC-s attacking stocks have received a significant boost with the capture of current Panamanian international striker Yairo Armando Glaize Yau for the 2012/13 season.
Yau will join Sydney FC on loan from Panamanian club Sporting San Miguelito upon completing a medical in Sydney.
The 22-year-old striker has played four matches for Panama, scoring one goal in a friendly against Guyana in May 2012. He was also a member of the squad that recently started Round 3 of CONCACAF 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying with wins over Cuba and Honduras.
Yau first played professional football as a 16-year-old and has spent most of his career in Panama as well as a one year stint at Deportivo Cali in Columbia.
“We-re very excited about being able to entice Yau to Sydney FC,” said Sydney FC Coach Ian Crook. “He-s a current Panamanian international and the boy can play.
“He-s quick, direct, can play as a striker or a wide man on either side and he can cross a ball. He-s played recently for Panama and we-re thrilled he will be joining us for the 2012/13 season.
“We now have a good group of attacking options with Yau and Kruno Lovrek joining Joel Chianese, Nick Carle, Brett Emerton, Mitch Mallia, Ali Abbas and Dimi Petratos to give our Members and fans some excitement up front.”
Yau will arrive in Sydney shortly once all relevant visa requirements have been met and will link up with his Sydney FC team mates for pre season training, which starts on Monday (16 July).
