Sydney FC has signed German attacking midfielder Anas Ouahim on a two-year contract until the end of the A-League Men’s 2025-26 season.

The 26-year-old from Leverkusen spent six years playing for two-time Bundesliga Champions Cologne FC, progressing through their youth academy before making his professional Bundesliga debut against Hertha Berlin in 2017.

Ouahim spent another five years in the German leagues, including a switch to Kaiserslauten before moving to the Dutch top-flight (Eredivisie) with Heracles Almelo where he spent two and a half years.

Last season the Moroccan under 23 international played with Moldova’s biggest club Sheriff Tiraspol however he is excited to move down under for an even greater challenge.

“It’s amazing and I’ve never had this feeling before in my career even when joining clubs in Europe, I’m so happy to join Sydney FC,” said Ouahim.

“It’s a very new experience which is perhaps why it feels so special right now and I can’t wait.

“I had a very good meeting with the Head Coach, he knows my playing style and my strengths and how I can fit into the team and grow as a player and person.

“I will give everything to help the club achieve their goals and I want to be successful.

“I’m not coming for a good time, I’m coming to win trophies.

“I know the club has a big history and is famous for their very good football in Australia.

“I’m excited to meet the team and the staff and of course to play in the A-League and Champions League will be exciting.”

Ouahim has won titles and promotions in both Holland and Germany

Sydney FC Head Coach Ufuk Talay believes Ouahim will fit well into his team’s way of playing and will give fans something to get excited about.

“Anas is a very technical player who creates goal scoring opportunities and has an eye for goal.

“He has great football intelligence and a great mentality off the ball.

“He will be a great fit for our style of football.”

Ouahim has won promotion and Championships in both Holland and Germany.
