Sydney FC has completed the signing of pacy Brazilian full back Fabio Alves Macedo on a two year contract.

Sydney FC has completed the signing of pacy Brazilian full back Fabio Alves Macedo on a two year contract.

The left back is Head Coach Ian Crook-s second signing of the week after securing the services of Iraqi international Ali Abbas on Monday. Fabio agreed terms after impressing during a recent trial and will officially join the club once visa requirements are finalised.

“I am very happy to be signing for Sydney FC,” said Fabio. “It-s a great opportunity for me and I-m going to repay the belief the coach Ian Crook has shown in me.

“I am really pleased by the way I have been received by the players and the coaching staff.

“In just a few days, I have seen that they are a very united group and I-m looking forward to working with them.”

The 27-year old arrives after a season playing for Melbourne Victory FC, where he was voted third in the Player of the Year Awards, and is excited about playing in front of Sydney FC-s fans.

“I know that Sydney FC have a great fan base, especially the Cove, and I want to show them I am 110% committed to the club.

“I hope to help Sydney FC win the A-League championship and I can see we are building a squad capable of doing that.

Sydney FC Head Coach Ian Crook believes the signing of the Brazilian will bring a much needed boost to the squad.

“I think he will improve the team and the squad and that-s all that matters right now,” said Crook.

“He-s technically very good and good on the ball which fits into our possession based game remit. He feels as though he has a point to prove, so he has a lot of hunger as well.”

Milton Da Rocha, from Demanly Management said: “It-s a great opportunity for Fabio, he has fully adapted to the A-League and to the Aussie culture, and I think Sydney fans will see the best of him.”
