Young Midfielder Rose Signs For Sydney FC

Sydney FC Sign Young Midfielder Alyssa Rose

Sydney FC have strengthened their A-League Women’s squad with the signing of midfielder Alyssa Rose on an injury replacement contract for Shay Hollman.

The 24-year-old joins the Sky Blues following an impressive season in the NPL NSW Women’s competition with APIA Leichhardt, where she capped off her campaign by scoring in the Grand Final.

A versatile midfielder with nearly a decade of NPL experience, Rose began her senior football journey at just 15 years old and made two A-League Women’s appearances for Western Sydney Wanderers during the 2016–17 season.

Rose’s signing comes as Hollman continues her recovery from a stress fracture in her femur sustained earlier this year. The young midfielder is expected to miss approximately the first three months of the season.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Sydney FC,” said Rose. “I’ve been training with the team for most of pre-season and the professionalism, intensity and culture here are second to none.

Alyssa Rose has been training with the Sky Blues for a number of weeks now.

“It’s really exciting to be part of the A-League’s most successful club and I can’t wait to contribute in any way I can.

“My aim is to be ready and prepared should the opportunity come to represent the Sky Blues.”

Head Coach Ante Juric said Rose has impressed throughout the pre-season.

“Alyssa has been training with us for several weeks now and has fitted in really well,” he said.

“She’s shown great attitude, composure and a willingness to learn, and she provides us with valuable depth while Shay continues her recovery.”

Sydney FC begin their A-League Women’s 2025–26 campaign at Leichhardt Oval tomorrow against Melbourne City, with Rose joining a strong squad aiming for a record-extending sixth Championship.

She will wear the number 22 shirt.
