Sydney FC Re-Sign Triple Premiership Winner

Sydney FC has welcomed back Championship and Premiership winning defender Charlotte McLean for the final two matches of the Ninja A-League Women’s 2025–26 season.

The 26-year-old defender has been training with the Sky Blues in recent weeks and will be available for selection as Sydney FC looks to close out the campaign strongly.

McLean was part of the Sky Blues squad that secured both the Premiership and Championship and returns to the club to help bolster defensive stocks with several players unavailable due to selection for the Young Matildas.

Sydney FC will face Melbourne Victory at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday 28 March before travelling to Polytec Stadium to take on Central Coast Mariners on Saturday 4 April in the final match of the regular season.

Head Coach James Slaveski welcomed the return of the experienced defender and believes she will provide valuable depth during the final weeks of the campaign.

“Charlotte knows this club extremely well and understands the standards required to play for Sydney FC,” he said.

“She’s been training with us for the past few weeks and has settled straight back into the group. Her experience of winning silverware with this club and her defensive qualities will be very valuable for us in these final two games.

“With a number of our players away with the Young Matildas, it’s important we have players who know our environment and can step in seamlessly, and Charlotte certainly fits that bill.”

McLean said she was thrilled to be back in Sky Blue and looking forward to contributing to the team in the closing stages of the season.

“It feels really special to be back at Sydney FC,” she said.

“This club means a lot to me and the girls have made me feel very welcome again over the past few weeks in training.

“I’ve really enjoyed being back in the environment and I’m excited for the chance to help the team in these last two games. Hopefully I can contribute however the coaches need me and help us finish the season strongly.”

The Sky Blues will be aiming to end their season on a high in front of a big crowd of home supporters for the Big Blue at Leichhardt Oval before concluding the campaign away against the Central Coast Mariners.
