Sydney FC complete productive Gold Coast pre-season trip

Sydney FC’s A-League Men’s squad has returned from a productive four-day pre-season trip to the Gold Coast, where the entire playing group worked hard both on and off the pitch.

Based at the Mercure Hotel Carrara, the Sky Blues made use of the superb facilities at the Gold Coast Sport & Leisure Centre in Carrara.

The trip, run in partnership with Invest Gold Coast, gave Ufuk Talay’s squad an opportunity to fine-tune preparations for the upcoming A-League season while also strengthening the bonds across the group.

Head Coach Ufuk Talay said the camp provided the perfect environment to step up preparations.

“It was good to break pre-season up and get the boys away in a different environment and it was a really good trip.

“The boys were great in all that they did – professional, with a good hit out against Brisbane Roar on the Saturday afternoon.

“It really helped with getting to know each other and bonding for a lot of the lads, spending time together away from Sydney.

“The weather was beautiful, the hotel and food were excellent, and the game itself was good so all in all it was a very successful trip.”

The squad capped off the trip with a pre-season clash against Brisbane Roar which they won 1-0 thanks to a Mathias Macallister penalty, with Talay pleased by both the competitive edge shown and the professional manner in which the players approached the challenge.

The Gold Coast experience also allowed new faces and Academy graduates to continue settling into the senior set-up, as the Sky Blues prepare for another big season ahead.
