Sydney FC-s players have delighted young footballers in Manly Vale by signing autographs and offering advice to players at the Manly-Warringah Football Association (MWFA) under 10 Gala Day.
Socceroo defender Adam Griffiths, Young Socceroo and former Manly resident Daniel Petkovski and young hot-shot goalscorer Joel Chianese spent three hours talking and meeting kids at Millers and David Thomas playing fields on Sunday (12th August)
“I had a really good time with the boys and hopefully they enjoyed the time they spent with me and we can do it again,” said defender Daniel.
“They all have good skills and I think some of them will go on to play for Sydney FC in the future.”
Around 1,000 people attended the event which pitted local teams against each other. While they took a break in between games, the young players signed up for Sydney FC-s Junior Blues memberships which give free access and free transport to all of Sydney FC-s home matches this season.
MWFA Gala Day Organiser David Brennan said: “It was a fabulous day. We had 47 under 10 teams competing and fortunately the weather held out for us and no one got wet.
“Having the Sydney FC boys there certainly was very exciting for the kids. They ran over to get anything they could signed whether it was boots or body parts!!
“The youngsters took to them really well.”
The team from Forest Kilarney took the spoils in the competition going through the whole day from 9am until 4pm undefeated.
