Sydney FC will play Perth Glory at Campbelltown Stadium in the FFA-s “Community Round” match on Wednesday 7 December in a further boost to Sydney FC-s overall improvement of its integration with the Sydney community.
The match at Campbelltown Stadium follows Sydney FC-s clash with local State League side Macarthur Rams in a pre season friendly, one of the six State League matches Sydney FC played in St George, Parramatta, Bankstown, Sutherland and Belmore, as well as Campbelltown.
“Sydney FC is committed to strengthening ties with the entire community and this game is another step in the right direction,” said Sydney FC CEO Dirk Melton. “Engagement with the Sydney community is critical at this stage of Sydney FC-s evolution.
“We have been working on improving that integration with the pre season State League matches, we have selected some causes to support and the players have done a lot of work visiting local junior football clubs so this game is a good continuation of that process.”
The FFA announced the Sydney FC v Perth Glory clash as part of an Australia-wide commitment to take the Hyundai A-League to new areas, which are: Campbelltown (NSW), Bathurst (NSW), Launceston (Tasmania), Dunedin (New Zealand) and Morwell (Victoria)
Coincidently, the Sydney FC v Perth Glory match will also allow Sydney FC star Brett Emerton to play in his Local Community as he was born and raised in the Campbelltown area.
“Part of my responsibilities off the field is to help promote Sydney FC to the entire Community, all over Sydney,” Emerton said. “I-m a Sydney boy so to play matches in different areas is great. For me, it-s also good we are playing a match at Campbelltown, where I played my junior football.”
The Sydney FC v Perth Glory match, to be played at Campbelltown Stadium on Wednesday 7 December, will kick off at 7.30pm.
The FFA also announced that Sydney FC-s match with Gold Coast United on Sunday 11 December will now be played at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast. Kick off for that game will be 4.00pm (local Queensland time).
