Sydney FC will take a Hyundai A-League clash to one of Sydney-s traditional football heartlands when they play defending champions Brisbane Roar at WIN Jubilee Kogarah on Sunday 4 December.
The match, originally scheduled to be played at the Sydney Football Stadium, has been moved through the cooperation of the Sydney FC, the Sydney Cricket and Sports Grounds Trust and the FFA.
The Sydney Football Stadium is due to host Eminem and the Foo Fighters concerts in early December and all parties agreed to move the fixture.
“I-d like to thank the SCG Trust and the FFA for working with Sydney FC to move the match,” said Sydney FC CEO Dirk Melton. “The SCG Trust has been incredibly helpful in assisting us in ensuring that the transition to Kogarah is a positive one for our members, fans and corporate partners.”
The move to Kogarah also allows Sydney FC to play a Hyundai A-League match in an area that has long been one of the club-s traditional fan bases.
“Research has shown us that the Inner West down to the Sutherland Shire is one of Sydney FC-s strongest areas in terms of fans and Members and to be able to play a competitive A-League match in that area is a positive move for the club,” Melton said.
“WIN Jubilee Kogarah is a quality stadium with a fantastic playing surface that our fans and players enjoyed when we played a pre -season friendly at the venue. We look forward to playing Brisbane Roar in an A-League game in the middle of one of our strongest Membership areas.”
