Match Report

Sydney FC have moved to within a single win over completing a back to back Premiers Plate after defeating Perth Glory 3-0 in Tasmania.

The Sky Blues opened the scoring through Tobin in the 34th minute as the skipper flicked a Hawkesby corner over the head of Newbon.

Sydney FC dominated the first half and doubled the lead in the second when Hawkesby again created the chance, playing Vine through on goal and the forward made no mistake.

It was Vine on the scoresheet for the third when Ibini beat her defender on the left and crossed.

Perth pulled a goal back in the final few minutes when Keane was fed through by De Vanna, and in injury time there was a nasty clash between Whyman and Keane, as the latter challenged for a ball in the box.

Fortunately both were ok and the Sky Blues move into the final game knowing a win will guarantee the Plate, providing Melbourne City win both their matches this week.

Sydney FC goalkeeper Jada Whyman takes a heavy fall catching the ball in the dying stages of the game.

What They Said: Cortnee Vine:- “I’m absolutely stoked, it was a really important game and I think we came out there and showed everyone what we can do and why we are at the top.

“I’m really proud of the girls. It’s good to get back on the scoresheet for me and get back in my stride with the team.

“I’m really happy I put two away today and hopefully I can put some more away in the next few games.”
