Sydney FC has made a slight adjustment to its pre season schedule with the match against NSW Premier League side Marconi Stallions cancelled.

The cancellation has allowed coach Frank Farina to move the Sydney FC v St George match to September 11, with that game still to be played at WIN Jubilee, Kogarah.

Upon returning from its six-match three-week pre season training camp in Italy, Sydney FC will play four more pre season matches before the season opener against Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium on Friday 11 October.

The final phase of preparation for the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League will see the Sky Blues take on fellow A-League teams Newcastle Jets, Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory to round out a pre season campaign that Farina described as “ideal preparation for the season”.

“I-m happy with the schedule as it stands now,” Farina said. “On the back of some good training blocks, a few state league games and the Italian training camp I think we-ve been able to put together a pre season that is ideal preparation for the start of the competition.

“The boys worked very hard in Italy, both in training and in the six matches we played and not only have they built a strong fitness base they have valuable match time under their belts. We played some tough matches in hot conditions and after a one-week freshen up when we get back to Australia we will resume training on September 2 for the final part of pre season.

“We-ll play another State League Community game against St George and then three friendlies against A-League teams that should have us fit and firing for the start of the season on October 11.”

A final decision is yet to be made on the venue for the final match against Perth Glory, but the game will be played in Sydney.
