Elvis Strikes Against The Jets In Pre-Season

What They Said: Steve Corica:  “That was another good workout for the boys to get even more minutes in their legs.  Most boys got through 90 minutes and others 60-70.

“We had five different goal scorers as well which bodes well and the younger boys in the final period did well for themselves and got some good minutes in too.

“It was good to see Anthony Caceres and Trent Buhagiar return from injury and now we are looking forward to getting the boys together at our training camp in Wollongong.”

Sydney FC have produced a second pre-season 5-0 win defeating Newcastle Jets at the Sky Blues training ground.

Goals from five different scorers did the damage in a game which lasted for three 45 minutes periods.

Kamsoba opened the scoring taking the ball off Jets defender Riley Warland and finishing with a side foot pass in seven minutes.

Burgess made it two in 22 minutes, finishing off a slick move involving Le Fondre, Retre and Barbarouses.

A high tempo and sometimes ill-tempered game resulted in the dismissal of Penha for a second foul on Brattan.

Both Sydney FC and the Jets hit the woodwork and had efforts cleared off the line before Le Fondre added to Sydney FC’s lead just before the hour after good work from Burgess.

Barbarouses’ clever flick from a clipped Brattan cross made it 4-0 before the 90 minutes were up.

The Sky Blues made a host of substitutions ahead of the final 45 in which Heward-Belle produced three fine saves and Buhagiar struck a fifth with a trademark finish.
