Sydney FC Enjoy Blistering Start to School Year

Sydney FC’s School program flourished in Term 1 with a huge number of students taking part in the sporting schools already in 2017.

16 schools and nearly 2600 students are signed up to multi-week programs so far in Term 1, with great coverage across our heartland association areas: Football South Coast, Sutherland, St George, Eastern Suburbs, Manly Warringah, Northern Suburbs, Canterbury, Gladesville Hornsby and Football Wagga Wagga.

Sydney FC Community Football Officer Howard Fondyke said it was great to see large numbers of students enjoy the program.

“Like all of the Sydney FC community programs, we aim to increase children’s participation in football, nurture their lifelong love of football, and get kids active,” he said.

“The Sporting Schools program has engaged the students well and it’s great to see them having fun through playing sport and learning new skills.”

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools increase children’s participation in sport.

Sydney FC is the coaching provider if a school decides to select football as their chosen sport. Sydney FC provides the following great benefits for students in each program:

  • Sydney FC endorsed coaches to run each football program
  • Adaptable program lengths, formats and sizes to suit your school

Schools can register and apply for funding on the Sporting Schools website, meaning all programs are FREE to participating schools and students: sportingschools.gov.au.

Once a school is approved for funding they can contact the Sydney FC community team at community@sydneyfc.com to book in a football program for the students.
