Moments That Mattered:

  1. SIEMSEN SHOT – 9’ –  Remy holds the ball up on the edge of the box and turns to shoot but the shot is deflected over the bar by a Brisbane defender.
  2. BLEDSOE SAVE – 16’ – A cross from the Brisbane left finds its way to the back post where Baisden is waiting but her powerful shot is well saved by Bledsoe who smothers the rebound.
  3. FOORD CHANCE – 32’ – Huerta’s early ball to Foord allows the Matilda a chance to turn and head towards goal but her shot from just outside the box is plucked from the air by Arnold.
  4. TOBY SHOT SAVED – 51’ – A ball through the middle from Brisbane to Toby is flagged for offside, however the referee fails to blow her whistle and Toby, expecting to be offside, half-heartedly hits the ball straight at Bledsoe who didn’t move and the game continues.
  5. SIEMSEN CHANCE – 54’ – Green plays Siemsen clear and the striker beats Arnold to the ball after the keeper comes out of her box, but the Young Matilda just can’t get her shot on target from a wide angle.
  6. SIEMSEN FIRES OVER – 56’ – Great work from Foord who lays the ball off to Siemsen but her dangerous, dipping shot is just over the bar.
  7. BLEDSOE SAVE – 69’ – Yallop drives into the box and shoots from a tight angle which Bledsoe tips onto the bar and over.
  8. AMAZING SAVE BLEDSOE – 82’ – The ball ricochets through to Yallop on the right hand side of the box, she takes a touch and fires it across Bledsoe who makes a terrific reflex save.

Sydney FC have gained a good point in their race for the Westfield W-League title, playing out a nil-all draw at Leichhardt Oval against Brisbane Roar.

The Sky Blues were resilient in defence and had some good chances going forward, while goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe made some crucial saves.

The match was played in wet conditions with rain falling the whole 90 minutes.

Sydney FC now have a mid-season break and will begin again with a huge Sydney Derby at Cromer Park in Manly on February 15th.

What They Said: Alanna Kennedy: “We’re happy with a point, I was a little bit disappointed with the way the game went at times.

“I think we could have kept the ball better but we are coming off the back of a game only a couple of days ago, and the weather contributed a little bit tonight as well.

“I think a point is better than nothing and it’s good we kept a clean sheet as well.”
