Sydney FC have parted ways with two players, defender James Donachie and attacker Alex Parsons, with both parties agreeing to terminate their contracts.
James Donachie joined Sydney FC ahead of the 2021-22 season scoring on debut in a 2-0 Australia Cup win over Macarthur FC, meanwhile Alex Parsons joined last season from Brisbane Roar and netted against his former side during the 2022/23 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.
Donachie explained he was disappointed to leave but excited for a new challenge.
“It’s hard to go because they are such a great bunch of lads, staff and people around the club, and there’s a really great culture about the place,” he said.
“I’ve enjoyed my time, I will miss many people and it has been an honour to pull on the Sky Blue shirt.
“However, I am looking forward to a new chapter in my career.
“I would like to thank Sydney FC and the Members for their support.”
Alex Parsons wanted to show his appreciation to the support he received from the fans during his time with the club.
“I’d like to thank the fans and Members for their support for me and the boys over the last year.
“I also would like to wish the boys and Steve the best for the upcoming season,” he concluded.
Sydney FC Head Coach Steve Corica thanked both players for their services to the club.
“James has been excellent to work with over the past two seasons and fitted in with our group from day one.
“He is a double Championship winner, and brought great experience and personality to our changing room.

“Alex was a young talent that we identified from Queensland and at key points in the season he delivered when we needed him.
“I would like to thank both of them for their efforts to myself and the club over their period with us.”
Donachie played 46 games in total including five in the AFC Champions League in Vietnam and scored two goals in Sky Blue. Alex Parsons made eight appearances and found the net on one occasion.
