While the match ended 2-2, Sydney FC showcased their attacking dominance against Melbourne City at AAMI Park in round 13 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.
With the lion’s share of possession (53.4% to City’s 46.6%) the Sky Blues carved out numerous goal scoring opportunities, mustering 19 shots compared to City’s 9, with goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen in fine form to deny the Sky Blues on countless occasions.
Of those 19 shots, 15 came from inside the area while four were fired from long range and five were blocked by the defence.
Andrew Hoole was particularly lively in front of goal, having six attempts at goal as he cut in from the left wing and terrorised the City defenders time and again.
Of Hoole’s six shots, two were on target, two were blocked en-route to goal and two were wide of the mark as the Sky Blues number seven displayed his full range of skills and justified his call up to the Olyroos’ set up.
The Sky Blues will be hoping to turn those shots into even more goals on Saturday as we take on the Newcastle Jets. Tickets are still available for Saturday’s double header, purchase yours today.
